How Flat Fees Benefit You:

This calculator is for illustration purposes only. The underlying assumptions are not meant to be, and should not be taken as a representation of what will happen in reality. This analysis assumes each portfolio earns a 7% annualized gross return before fees and does not account for taxes. The assumed starting value is $1,000,000. The flat fee is assumed to increase by 2% each year for inflation. The assumed asset-based fee portfolio fee is 1% annually of total assets. Fees, returns, and inflation will vary in real life.

Flat Fee vs Paying a %

I believe your wealth should compound with the stock market, not your expenses.

I chose this fee structure because it reflects my desire to charge a fair and transparent fee for the value I deliver instead of charging the maximum amount possible. Flat fees also reduce conflicts of interest.

You can rest assured that my recommendations won't be influenced by:

  1. Large commission incentives
  2. Kickbacks from fund companies
  3. The possible reduction in our fees (under an % of AUM model)*

*An example would be if I were to recommend you pay off your house or make a large donation to your church based on your values and goals. Under an AUM model, that would decrease my fee, so I'd be less likely to make that recommendation with enthusiasm.

Average "All-In" Fees:

Flat Fees Are Just One Aspect of Our Value

The time, effort, and stress avoided + the potential tax savings, lower fees, better outcomes, and better investment portfolios are just a few examples of what can make paying our fees a great value for our clients.

A (non-exhaustive) list of the value we bring:

  • Knowing how much you can safely spend
  • Creating a regular retirement paycheck
  • Retirement timing help; how much do you need?

  • Customized Social Security strategies
  • Ongoing Roth conversion analyses
  • Tax savings strategies (often worth hundreds of thousands)
  • A comprehensive and stress-tested financial plan
  • A real person who knows you who can answer questions
  • Someone who will be there for the "non financial" spouse
  • Clarity on where you stand financially
